PHOTOGRAPHY HIKES

Our Guided Wilderness Photography Hikes are available all year as we have different options to suit our different Seasons in NZ.
 
Our Hikes give you the opportunity to see and photograph Wildlife such as Red Deer, Fallow Deer, Farm animals, Native Birds and also New Zealand Native Bush. You will have the chance to witness truly breath taking scenery.
 
The trips that we offer can accommodate most fitness levels. You do not need to have previous knowledge or experience with Hiking as we will cater to your own personal abilities and goals.
 
We can access different hikes via foot or Helicopter. The access via Helicopter gives us the option to hike our alpine environments at high altitudes.

Earnslaw Burn -  Heli Hike

Price: $1,375 NZD per person - with a minimum of Two People

Departure times: 10.30am
Duration: Allow 3.5 - 4 hours (including - 20-25 minutes of flying, 1.5 - 2 hours of hiking, 1 - 1.5 hours for a picnic and exploring)
Description: Departs from Glenorchy taking a flight over Glenorchy, the Dart River and Mt Alfred before landing in the Mt Earnslaw basin. You will then take an easy-moderate hike following a meandering glacier-fed river and taking in an array of wildlife, fauna and waterfalls before reaching a spot where the mighty Earnslaw Burn come into view. There will be ample opportunity to admire the scenery and take photos. After 1.5 - 2 hours of walking, your hike will conclude in the Earnslaw Burn by a tumbling waterfall and below Mt Earnslaw Glacier - a world famous glacier. Here, in this beautiful spot, you can sit back and relax with a picnic and soak in the tranquillity of this breathtaking location.

What you will need to bring:
As you will be hiking while enjoying an alpine environment, we recommend you:
  • Wear sensible comfortable walking shoes, trainers or hiking boots.
  • Wear warm clothing and bring a windproof jacket.
  • Bring along a small day pack with a water bottle, camera, sunscreen, sunglasses and insect repellent.
  • You’re more than welcome to bring snacks (a picnic lunch will be provided at the end of your hike).
